Paris’ prosecutor’s office has requested that actor Gérard Depardieu be tried in a criminal court on the rape charges brought by actress Charlotte Arnould and an investigating judge will ultimately decide whether or not to grant the request, according to la Repubblica.
Depardieu has been on trial since October regarding separate charges regarding sexual harassment against two women during the filming of ‘The Green Shutters’ (2021), and this one is concerning two rape allegations made by Arnould in a police complaint filed back in August 2018.
Arnould, 28, alleges that Depardieu, who was friends with her parents, had raped her on August 7th and August 13th, 2018, when she went to his home in Paris to get some advice regarding her acting career.
Arnould’s lawyer, Carine Durrieu-Diebolt said that the request for trial is “a huge step forward in the direction of a trial” for Arnould, adding that her client is now “impatiently awaiting the end of the investigation.”
Depardieu has denied the allegations.
